The Arquitectum story and evolution

Our Story

ARQUITECTUM was the first international platform and agency of its kind dedicated to organising open architecture competitions for professionals, graduates and students to present their concepts and vision through their proposal for a set topic or project. The platform and brand began life in 2003 with the founding of Arquitectum S.A.C in Lima, Peru but was later acquired by a UK team and company in 2016.

The Arquitectum platform with its range of competition topics is a platform and an exciting opportunity for architectural exploration, experimentation, speculation, intervention and discussion in a digital age.

And as the first international enterprise dedicated to the organisation of open architecture competitions that allow professionals from all over the world to take part and showcase their architecture design concept and vision in international architectural sphere including architectural institutions, editorial, architecture publications, competition , governments. Most importantly it provides architects, designers, planners and urbanists an opportunity to explore existing built environments whilst designing new objects and structures as a means of communicating their practice and work to prospective clients, employers and publishers worldwide.

Arquitectum pioneered the international conceptual architectural competition and collaborative format and brief style we now see today, as copied by other architecture competition platforms such as BUILDNER! (formerly known as BEE BREEDERS).
